Snowweek to the rescue!! The week started out with snow-fall and a pep assembly. Mary Wilson and Andy Widmar were crowned Queen and King, with Corrine Cesario, Brian Barring-ton, Denise Crowl, and Bob For-sha named Duchess, Duke, Princess, and Prince. Along with the royalty, the traditional "Bests" were named. These included "Best Walk," "Best Smile," "Best Laugh," and many others, which were voted on by the students . A highlight of the assembly was the singing of Soul Man by Burnsville's own Blues Brothers, Steve Nelson and Pat Schmelke. Many activities to "break up the winter blahs" were scheduled, including a showing of the movie, Smokey and the Bandit. Popcorn and pillows were the things to have at the movie. The students beat the faculty 56-5 1 in the annual Faculty-Studen t basketball game . A favor ite highlight of Snowweek was the delivery of Valegrams on Valen-tine's Day. Sweethearts and friends were all treated to a love note or just a friendly letter. To add to the spirit of fun, each day was designated as a "dress-up" day. Monday, stu-dents followed the royalty and dressed up as kings and queens. Tuesday was the usual "Black and Gold" day, with Wednesday being "Red and White" day in honor of St. Valentine. Thursday, students were encouraged · to dress for-mally. Friday, to remind us of those warm months ahead, became "Summer" day. Stu-dents wore shorts, sunglasses, and tube tops in Minnesota's chilly winter weather. The Snowweek Dance topped off a week full of activities. The romantic evening was thor-oughly enjoyed by all in attend-ance. Page 34: Upper Left: The Blues Broth-ers and their band. Upper Right: Jill Swenson shows Mr. Shevlin some dance steps.
