< PreviousCO-CHAMPS 1963 Football was "the greatest" at Burnsville this year. The Braves, coached by "Papa" Pates and Mr. Hanson, played a full slate of seven games. After losing the first two games, both non-conference, the Braves marched on and fought their way to a share in the conference champion-ship, even though they beat Lakeville, the other co-champion, earlier in the season by a score of 6-0. In the i r games, the Burnsville Braves set two new con-ference records, one in defense, one in offense. In the full conference schedule of games the Braves allowed the opposing teams to score a total of only 17 points, and the last three challengers the Braves met were held scoreless. The Homecoming game with Prior Lake was the scene for the ·other record--the most points scored in one game by one team. The Braves clobbered the Lakers 45-0 . , This year's co-captains were Eugene Boyer, offensive halfback, and Gary Gibbish, offensive guard. An outstanding season in football was topped off when co-captain Gary Gibbish was given honorable mention on an All -American team . Coaches: Mr. Pates and Mr. Hanson 4-ll Congratulations!
