Hagemeister Grocery 1964November 26, 1964 Dakota County Tribune: Hagemeister Grocery, a family operation for 70 years has been sold and will close March 31, 1965. It will probably be torn down and used for additional parking for the new shopping center. For some Burnsville residents, especially those living near Crystal Lake, Rosemount and Lakeville was the destination for grocery shopping before the 1960s.

150th Anniversary of RosemountOn April 6, 1858, Dakota County established Rosemount as one of its first 17 townships. On May 11, Rosemount organized. The original township included 24 sections measuring in total four miles north/south and six miles east/west in the heart of the county. This publication was prepared originally by W.G. Wolston for the Rosemount Area Chapter of the Dakota County Historical Society.Revised and reprinted by the City for Rosemount’s sesquicentennial 2008. Because early Burnsville had no high school, no bank and limited stores, Rosemount was an option for these services.

Rosemount barbershop 1964Dakota County Tribune, July 30, 1964 reports: Old barbershop at Rosemount, waiting to be moved to the Alter Strese farm, west of Rosemount. The barbershop, used by Frank Gibson, was almost continuously used from the turn of the century. It was moved to make way for the KenRose Shopping Center being built behind it.
The VFW in Rosemount had originally wanted the building but refused it at the last minute. Plans were going ahead to burn it when Walter Strese of Strese Service Station in Rosemount said he wanted the building to store antiques in... it would later find its home restored at the Dakota County Fair Grounds, Farmington.
