The Heritage Room at the Savage Branch of the Scott County Library System was established as a joint partnership between the library system, the City of Savage and the Dan Patch Historical Society in 1997. When the city was planning to build a new public library the mayor and city council wanted a space included to promote the rich history of the city.
The historical aspects of the building include a display room at the entrance with a sulky, a Dan Patch wagon, and items from the International Stock Food Farm. In the Heritage Room located in the interior of the room are two display cases containing such items as the M.W. Savage catalog, buttons from all of the Dan Patch Days, M.W. Savage stationary, horseshoes, Dan Patch collector whiskey bottle, tobacco tin, items from Cargill, Camp Savage and other collectibles.
